Directions to Melrose Cottage
SatNavOur postcode (PL13 2RP) should work as the destination in your SatNav, alternatively to be sure you can use (50.33158, -4.52111)
Letting us known your planned arrival time Please call 01503 265602 48 hours before your arrival to arrange where to collect the keys, this will either be at Melrose Cottage or at Waylands Farm Cottages depending on your planned time of arrival. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any last minute questions and for us to clarify any points about your booking.
Getting into Melrose We think that you will find the most convenient option for getting the keys is to phone us when you cross the Tamar (big suspension bridge at Plymouth), on the mobile number we will give you, and we will arrange to meet you at Melrose and show you around. If you let us know what car you are driving (make and colour) we can look out for you in Polperro and hopefully jump out in front of the correct car.
Directions When the M5 ends at Exeter continue on the A38 to Plymouth and into Cornwall. After crossing the Tamar Bridge carry on along the A38 towards Liskeard. After about 6 miles you will come to the Kernow Mill roundabout. Following the signs to Looe turn left here onto the A374 and then, after another 2 miles, take the right turn onto the A387. Follow this road into Looe, go over the bridge and continue up the hill towards Polperro.
If you are collecting the keys from Waylands Farm Cottages, you will find Waylands Farm Cottages signposted off to the left about ½ mile after the turn off to TenCreek. If we don’t see you arriving, please ring the bell of the slate fronted house in the group of cottages at the end of the drive (not the two slate fronted semi-detached houses on the right, half way down the drive).
If we are meeting you at Melrose Cottage, continue along the A387 to Polperro for about 4 miles. Descend the hill into Polperro and turn left at the roundabout into the village through the width restriction (you are an authorised vehicle, so ignore the sign). Taking care to avoid the Polperro Trams and visitors (both use the road rather than the pavement), continue down the main street taking the sharp right turn just before the small car park/open space on the right after the Claremont Hotel. There is a sign to The Old Mill House and the Model Village at this turning, you will need to pull over to the left to get a good turning area. Invariably someone will stand just where you want to turn, but don’t panic and rush, operate on Cornish time and wait for them to get bored and move on. Melrose Cottage is straight ahead over the small bridge.
The alternative method is to follow the directions to the Model Village which start just outside of Looe. Melrose Cottage is to the left of the Model Village.
